Become an Expert and PADI Boat Diver specialist

The Koh Tao PADI Boat Diver specialty course includes:

    To enroll in the PADI Boat Diver course you must:

  • Be an Open Water diver
  • Recent diving experience – we recommend completing a scuba review if you have not dived for 12 months
  • 10 years old or older
  • Medically fit to dive 1 Day Koh Tao PADI Boat Diver Specialty course The course consists of two sections:
  • Knowledge Development – Instructor-led knowledge development session and complete the knowledge review
  • Open Water training – 2 training dives

    At Black Turtle Dive we take our customer promise very seriously. All courses are conducted with a maximum of 4 students per PADI instructor.
    Our Instructors are highly trained and will ensure you receive lots of attention and most importantly, progress at your own pace in a relaxed environment.
    During your training, we will slowly build your confidence and ability as you develop the skills necessary to become a PADI Boat diver specialist.

    The PADI Boat Diver course schedule at Koh Tao Scuba Diving School is flexible and we can work around your own personal needs and timeframe.

    Course Schedule

    Day 1:
    09.00 – 11.30: Orientation & Knowledge Development
    12.30 – 17.00: Boat diver specialty training dives 1 & 2
    You are now a certified PADI Boat diver specialist. PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course Information Orientation & Knowledge Development.
    We start the PADI Boat Diver specialty course at 09.00 with an Orientation that includes the completion of paperwork and the PADI Medical statement.
    The Boat Diver specialty course consists of 2 training dives that you will take in the beautiful clear sea around Koh Tao.
    There is an Instructor-led knowledge development and a 10-question open book knowledge review session to complete that your instructor will review.

    The Instructor-led knowledge development is conducted during the morning of day 1. Some of the subjects you will cover include:

  • Standard boat terminology
  • The location and purpose of the trip line, gear line, tagline, and current line
  • Navigational rules of the road
  • Navigational charts and why they are important
  • Correct use of a marine radio
  • Considerations when selecting a mooring or an anchorage for diving
    Koh Tao Boat Diver Specialty Course Training Dives.

    There are 2 Boat Diver training dives to complete to become a Boat Diver specialist:
    Boat Diver training dive #1
    During this dive, your Instructor will ask you to identify areas of the boat using specific terminology such as bow, stern, port, and starboard. You will also be expected to locate important emergency and safety equipment on board the boat, such as first aid equipment Your Instructor will ask you to perform an entry specific to the boat you will be diving off, before the dive and after the dive you will be required to exit the water using a typical exit to the boat you will be diving off.

    On your second Boat dive your Instructor will ask you to put together a dive plan that takes into account the type of boat you will be diving off. You will also need to assess the diving and marine environment you will dive in and demonstrate the ability to apply the knowledge you learn during this course on future boat dives.
    Congratulations. You are now a PADI Boat Diver specialist.
